Our Pre-Installation Checklist!
Check you've done these steps before your connection date.Power Supply - Fuel Type
- It is important to make sure you have a correct, up-to-date, power supply for your cooker. This will depend on your fuel supply: whether you have gone for an Induction or Gas cooker.
- Please find the exact details of which power supply your cooker requires in the specifications of our product listing online.
- If you’re planning to switch fuel type – from electricity to gas, or vice versa, you’ll need to speak to a Gas safe registered engineer or electrician, and get this switched before your installation date.
- We are always happy to take a look at pictures of your current power supply and give advice. Please get in contact with us if you require any additional help.
- Please make sure that your power supply can provide the correct amperage for your cooker.
- If you're unsure of your current power supply, have a look at your fuse box. This will tell you the amp rating of your circuit, which you can then compare with the amperage of your chosen appliance. Please get in contact if you need a user manual for your appliance so that you can accurately compare.
- Speak to a qualified electrician if you have any concerns about your power supply, or alternatively get in touch with our team here at Diss Ironworks. We can advise on whether you may require work done to get your space installation-ready.
There are a few things that must be noted if you have chosen a Gas hob:
- Gas Pipework and Positioning: A 1⁄2” Self-sealing Bayonet Connector, needs to be secured to the wall behind where the cooker will be situated.
- If it to be fitted flush with the wall, the bayonet fitting should be no more than 40mm from the wall.
- If you require additional LPG kit, please let us know at the time of order so we can make sure that your cooker arrives with the suitable fixings for you!
- It is really important to make sure that your space is suitable for your cooker. The measurements between either side of the cooker and the worktop must be in line with the cooker's installation guidelines, which can be found in the installation manual. Let us know if you need any help gathering this information.
- You also need to check that the clearance between the hob and any cooker hood or kitchen unit above is within the manufacturer’s guidelines. A gas hob will usually require more space above (please see Hot Zone advice).
- The delivery team cannot make any adjustments on the day. A tradesperson may be required to make changes prior to installation if you do not conform to space guidelines. Unfortunately, if installation cannot commence on the day, additional charges may apply, and installation refunds are not applicable.
- If you are unsure of the specific guidelines of your cooker, please contact us and we can provide clarification.
- The space between the hob and the hood is known as the ‘hot zone’, and this must be clear of the following things: Plug Sockets, Window sills, Blinds / Curtains, Wallpaper and any other flammable materials.
- If you have one of these things in your hot zone, these must be removed before any installation can go ahead. Depending on the situation, you may need to book an electrician, or tradesperson to carry out any work before your installation can take place.
It is the consumers responsibility, to ensure that your environment is ready to accept the new appliance:
- Please make sure that you have booked the appropriate services with your cooker order. If you need to add services after the point of order, please give us a call and we can advise further!
- Please let us know about any access issues you may have to your property. This can include: steps, tight corridors or doorways or road limitations to your home that may obstruct a large vehicle being able to deliver. If you would like to send us any images of your property, we can help.
